Banking on history
in the week of the Channel Tunnel inauguration, Miss Dover, Jemma Irving, strikes a defiant pose as Britannia at Dover Pageant on Bank Holiday Monday. Thousands of people stood in the sunshine to watch the Pageant
which celebrated the history of banking in the town from pre-Roman days to the Second World War. Written and performed by local people, the pageant wasa mix of colourful costumes, music, danciug and displays.
